We have provided information and links to professional organizations that Online Learning recommends. Our staff are members of some of these organizations and continue to utilize the research, articles, and events.


Association for Educational Communications & Technology (AECT)

AECT is a professional association of instructional designers, educators, and professionals who provide leadership and advise policymakers in order to sustain a continuous effort to enrich teaching and learning.

Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE)

AACE is an international, not-for-profit, educational organization with the mission of advancing Information Technology in Education and E-Learning research, development, learning, and its practical application. It also serves the educational technology profession with international conferences, publications, a Digital Library, and other opportunities for professional growth.


Educause

A nonprofit association and the largest community of technology, academic, industry, and campus leaders advancing higher education through the use of IT. Access research, resources, and tools related to a variety of topics, including emerging technologies, IT leadership, and teaching and learning. UT has a system subscription. International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE)

ICDE is the leading, global membership organization that works towards providing accessible, quality education to all learners through online education.  The council collaborates with industry leaders to find solutions for some of the toughest challenges in eLearning including inclusive, flexible, and quality learning and teaching.


Online Learning Consortium (OLC)

OLC is a collaborative community of higher education leaders and innovators, dedicated to advancing quality digital teaching and learning experiences designed to reach and engage the modern learner – anyone, anywhere, anytime. Attend a conference enroll in a workshop, or earn a certificate.

Quality Matters (QM)

Based on peer-reviewed research, QM is a non-profit, quality assurance organization supporting members in developing an institutional culture of quality. The organization provides training and implementation opportunities for online course review and delivery leading to certification in nationally and internationally recognized standards. 

The Office of Online Learning & Academic Programs (OLAP) is now an affiliate with Quality Matters affording UTK faculty and staff access to QM’s suite of trainings and materials to support online program development.  

As a result of our affiliation with QM, all UTK faculty and instructors have access to self-reviewer tools, free webinar opportunities, and other professional development options. To access these resources, all UTK faculty and instructors need to create a MyQM account


United States Distance Learning Association 

The first nonprofit distance learning association in the United States to support distance learning research, development and praxis across the complete arena of education, training and communications.

WICHET Cooperative for Educational Technology (WCET)

WCET is a membership cooperative of institutions and organizations dedicated to advancing access and is a membership cooperative of institutions and organizations dedicated to advancing access and excellence in higher education through the innovative use of technology. Focus areas include institutional success, policy and regulations, student success, and technology.
